Vauxhall Movano gets a new look and improved safety tech on board

The updated Vauxhall Movano has been revealed with a sharper look and upgraded safety equipment designed to make this large van safer than ever. The new model is for sale in the summer, and will come in a wide range of body styles to suit business needs.

While the smaller Combo and Vivaro vans are now in line with other vans within the PSA Peugeot Citroen group, the Movano is a facelift of the existing van. It gets a new front end with sharper lights featuring an LED signature similar to that found on Vauxhall's car range, while a huge Griffin badge dominates the grille and a chrom strip leads from it to the lights. At the back are new tail-light clusters, but that's it from a styling perspective.

Where the Movano has been comprehensively updated is in the cab, with a suite of new connectivity and safety kit. Drivers can now take advantage of the availability of Vauxhall's Intellilink 5.0 nav system, which also incorporates Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while wireless phone charging is also offered for the first time.

Safety kit includes a new rear-vision camera that relays live images to a 7-inch touchscreen where the rear-view mirror would normally sit. Lane departure warning and blind spot alert help to keep the Movano in position, while all vans now come with Side Wind Assistant as part of the stability control system, to help the van when exposed to cross winds.

Cabin comfort has been improved with the option of comfort seats with adjustable lumbar support for driver and passenger, while a truck-style air-cushioned driver's seat is also available for long-distance drivers.

From the factory the Movano is available as a chassis cab or panel van in four lengths and three heights, with the biggest of the lot being able to carry five Europallets inside. Maximum payload is up to 4.5 tonnes (if you have a valid CV licence), while a cargo volume of up to 17 cubic metres is offered. In addition, Vauxhall has a range of certified conversion specialists that mean there are up to 150 different versions of the Movano available to buy. Panel vans feature LED lighting in the back and extra grab handles to help access to the load area.

Prices for the new Movano will be confirmed when it arrives in Vauxhall dealers later this summer.
