You can buy a Land Rover that’s up to five years old and has as many as 100,000 miles on the clock through the British firm’s approved used scheme. And sure enough, we found a 95,000-mile Discovery for sale on a 61-plate (2011), for £25,000. As with all used Land Rovers, this model will have gone through a 165-point inspection, and on top of this the mileage will have been independently verified. Only cars with a full dealer service history are offered through the programme.
The warranty runs to two years with no mileage restrictions, and the Europe-wide breakdown cover lasts for the same period. Also included is £750 worth of MoT test cover (with a £50 excess), seven days’ worth of drive-away insurance and a complimentary half-day off-roading experience. Excess Protect pays the first £250 in the event of an insurance claim and Land Rover will cover any excess that might be payable to use its own bodyshop for crash repairs, instead of an insurer-approved repairer.
