Skoda has bolstered the engine range for its Karoq and Kodiaq SUVs, adding a new 187bhp 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol. The new powertrain is on sale in the UK now, with prices starting from £31,820 in the Karoq and £34,120 in the Kodiaq.
Skoda’s VW-Group sourced 2.0-litre TSI unit produces 187bhp and 320Nm of torque and come mated to a seven-speed DSG gearbox and an all-wheel-drive system as standard. In the Karoqit means a 0–62mph sprint of seven seconds and a top speed of 131mph, making it the fastest model in the range.
The Kodiaq gets the same gearbox and all-wheel-drive system but, due to its added weight, the 0–62mph time increases to 7.7 seconds, while its top speed is slightly lowered at 130mph. The Karoq returns economy figures of between 32.1 and 33.2mpg on the WLTP combined cycle, with the heavier Kodiaq return just north of 30mpg.
In the Karoq, the new engine is only available in Sportline trim. However, Kodiaq buyers can spec the new 2.0-litre TSI powertrain with SE L, Scout, Sportline, Edition and L&K variants, with prices topping-out at £38,770 for the seven-seat L&K version.
