New Maserati Levante and Ghibli F Tributo unveiled

Maserati has launched a pair of special edition versions of the Levante SUV and Ghibli saloon, badged F Tributo in homage to the company’s history in motorsport.

Both cars get black 21-inch alloy wheels, yellow brake calipers, a new badge for the front wheel arch and a choice of two unique paint finishes, called Rosso Tributo and Azzurro Tributo.

Maserati says that the new paint finishes are a nod to the company’s heritage. The first is a shade of red similar to that worn by the company’s first ever racing car, the 1926 Tipo26, which won the 1,500cc class at the Targo Florio with Alfieri Maserati at the helm.

The second is a shade of blue, referencing the Italian brand’s home city of Modena, which uses a similar colour on its flag. The yellow on the brake calipers has also been matched to that used on the nose cone of Fangio’s 250F.

Inside, buyers get black leather upholstery and contrasting stitching to complement the paint, finished in either red or yellow. The Levante comes with an 8.4-inch infotainment system as standard, while the Ghibli features a 10.1-inch unit.

The new special edition models will go on sale in the UK later this year, with prices starting from £91,885 for the Levante and £87,565 for the Ghibli.

The Levante F Tributo special edition will be available with a choice of two twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre V6 petrol engines. The entry-level model develops 345bhp and 500Nm of torque; enough, says Maserati, for a 0–62mph time of six seconds and a top speed of 156mph.

A more powerful version based on the Levante S bumps the price up to £101,655, and boosts the engine’s output to 424bhp and 580Nm of torque. The extra oomph cuts the SUV’s 0–62mph time to 5.2 seconds and increases its top speed to 164mph.

Maserati’s cheapest Ghibli F Tributo comes with the same 345bhp V6 but, due to its nimbler kerb-weight, it’ll dispatch the 0–62mph sprint in 5.5 seconds and top-out at 166mph.

The Ghibli S F Tributo shares its 424bhp V6 with the Levante S, which gives it a 0–62mph time of 4.9 seconds and a top speed of 178mph. Prices start from £98,005.
