Infiniti will unveil a new electric crossover concept at the Detroit Motor Show in January that previews the firm’s first all-electric crossover.
The Japanese company is pushing its electric agenda, and aims to offer either hybrid or all-electric powertrains for its entire line-up by 2021. Details on the underpinnings of this concept are still vague, but we do know that it will preview Infiniti’s new dedicated electric platform.
As well as its new EV architecture Infiniti will also use its latest crossover concept to detail its future plans for exterior design. This new model will draw design inspiration from the Prototype 10 Concept previewed at the 2018 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. The Japanese company also tells us that this concept is a strong indicator of how the production model will look.
We expect the production model of this concept to hit showrooms in early 2020 and to act as a rival for the upcoming BMW iX3. Whether or not it will be sold in the UK is still yet to be confirmed.
Infiniti Executive Design Director, Karim Habib, said: "the concept car we will show in Detroit is the beginning of a new era for INFINITI, and an illustration of where we want to go with the brand. Electrification and other new technologies have given us the opportunity to evolve our design philosophy."
