MINI announces new specs for the John Cooper Works Hatch and Convertible, which is set for a re-release early next year

The MINI John Cooper Works Hatch and Convertible will return to dealers in March 2019, after being removed from sale due to not complying with WLTP regulations.

Both models will be fitted as standard with a 228bhp 2.0-litre turbocharged, four-cylinder petrol engine mated to a six speed manual transmission.

As a result, the JCW Hatch will accelerate from 0-62mph in 6.3 seconds, while the Convertible takes 6.6 seconds. An eight-speed automatic will also be available as an option.

Fuel economy and CO2 emissions have been adjusted to meet the strict Euro 6d-TEMP regulations; both models will come come fitted with petrol particulate filters and ‘eco’ modes to maximise fuel consumption.

MINI claims the manual John Cooper Works Hatch will achieve a claimed 40.9mpg and emit 158g/km of CO2. These figures increase to 45.6mpg and 142g/km of C02 for the automatic.

Standard equipment includes 17-inch John Cooper Works alloys, sports suspension, uprated brakes and a John Cooper Works bodykit.

Automatic LED headlights, rain sensing wipers, branded puddle lighting, John Cooper Works bucket seats and customisable interior ambient lighting will also feature.
