An all-new version of the Hyundai i10 has been caught on camera during winter testing. The supermini is one of the Korean firm’s most important models in the European market, and Hyundai has confirmed this is indeed the all-new third generation model despite its striking similarities with today's version.
Despite the extensive disguise, we’re expecting the new i10’s revisions to be minimal due to the car’s low build- and retail-cost. The new i10 shares its basic shape with the outgoing model's, sporting the same funky headlamps, centre-mounted daytime running lights and bumper design. Expect little more than a mild tweak to the front and rear bumpers.
We anticipate few changes in the interior. The seats seem to be the same as the current model's, as do the door cards and centre console.
Hyundai says the i10’s coloured interiors will likely be phased out for UK buyers too, due to their poor sales. As the dash is covered, a mild update to the infotainment system could be possible for premium models, perhaps borrowing the i30’s eight-inch touchscreen.
Additionally, the i10’s engine range will likely receive an update, allowing it to compete with the Volkswagen up!’s efficiency. Previously, the most frugal i10 managed 50.4mpg and emitted 117g/km of CO2.
