Cupra unveiled a special edition version of its Ateca SUV at this year’s Geneva Motor Show. Featuring a range of styling updates and a new sports exhaust, the model is due to enter low-volume production towards the end of 2019, with order books opening later in the year.
Exterior revisions to the special edition Cupra Ateca include a unique Graphene Grey paint-job, wider 20-inch alloy wheels, exclusive copper-coloured Cupra-branded decals, Brembo brakes, an AkrapoviƧ exhaust system, a larger copper-infused carbon fibre wing and carbon fibre door mirrors.
Inside, the Ateca special edition gets a pair of blue Alcantara bucket seats, re-trimmed rear seats, copper carbon fibre dashboard mouldings, black trim for the air vents, a redesigned centre console, blue door-cards and Cupra floor mats.
It’s powered by the same 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged engine as the standard Ateca, producing 296bhp and 400Nm of torque. Performance is fed through a seven-speed DSG gearbox to all four wheels, providing a 0–62mph sprint of 5.4 seconds and a top speed of 152mph.
Like the standard-issue Ateca, this special edition will have adaptive suspension, a digital instrument cluster, wireless phone charging, an eight-inch touchscreen, keyless entry and dynamic chassis control. Whether or not the standard model’s optional panoramic roof and premium audio system can be specced is yet to be confirmed.
Prices for the special edition Cupra Ateca are yet to be announced, but expect to pay a premium over the standard car’s £35,900 base-price. Full pricing information will be released in the second half of the year.
