Toyota looks set to continue offering the Auris in both hatchback and estate form, as revealed by these exclusive spy shots of what will be the next Auris Touring Sports.
The new third-generation Auris hatchback made its debut only earlier this month at the Geneva Motor Show, with the new model to be built at the company’s UK plant in Burnaston, Derbyshire. The hatch will be on sale by the end of the year, while the Touring Sports estate looks likely to follow in 2019.

It’s still hidden under substantial masking, but with the overall shape of the estate on show and the Auris’ new design language already revealed, little is left to the imagination.
Like the hatch, the upcoming Volkswagen Golf Estate and Hyundai i30 Tourer rival will make use of the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) platform, supporting a choice of electrified powertrains.
We can’t be completely sure about the engine mix Toyota plans to offer on the Touring Sports, but if it shares its powertrains directly with the hatch, a 1.8-litre plug-in hybrid setup will be offered – the same hybrid setup underpinning the Prius and C-HR crossover.
A secondary hybrid could appear in the form of a 2.0-litre petrol-electric drivetrain developing 177bhp, while a turbocharged non-hybrid 1.2-litre petrol will arrive as more conventional option. No diesels will be offered.
