Skoda's smallest SUV offering gets Sportline styling and a new 2.0-litre petrol engine

Skoda has revealed the new Karoq Sportline, following on from the debut of the tough looking Karoq Scout earlier this week.

With the Karoq unlikely to gain a vRS variant, this is as sporty as things will get for Skoda’s Nissan Juke rival, and it’ll make its full debut alongside the new Scout variant at the Paris Motor Show in October.

The Karoq Sportline rides on unique black 18-inch wheels, with 19-inch versions available on the options list. A bodykit similar to the one found on the Kodiaq Sport appears too, with fresh bumpers front and rear. The car’s bodywork paint contrasts with a grille, roof rails and wing mirrors finished in gloss black, and the windows are tinted too.

In the cabin, the Sportline gains black sports seats upholstered in what Skoda says is a three-ply air-permeable fabric, which is claimed to be more breathable than regular fabric and more comfortable in hot conditions. The steering wheel gains perforated leather and silver stitching, the roof gets black headlining, stainless steel pedals are equipped, and LED ambient lighting is included too. Skoda’s Virtual Cockpit digital instrument panel is on the options list, and has an additional selectable interface unique for the Karoq Sportline.

Engine wise, Karoq Sportline buyers are offered four choices. Diesels are covered by two 2.0-litre TDI units with either 187bhp or 148bhp, with the more powerful version equipped with all-wheel-drive and a seven-speed DSG gearbox. This is optional on the 148bhp car, which sends power to the front wheels through a six-speed manual in standard guise.

Two petrols will be offered too. Joining a 1.5-litre TSI unit with 148bhp will be a 187bhp 2.0-litre petrol unique to the Sportline version of the Karoq.

The Karoq Sportline will go on sale not long after its full debut alongside the Karoq Scout in Paris this October, and will be priced right at the steepest end of the Karoq line-up.
