The Nissan 370Z 50th Anniversary Edition has made its debut at this year’s New York Motor Show, paying homage to the firm’s classic 1970 Datsun BRE 240Z racer.
It forms part of Nissan’s planned Golden anniversary celebration for its “Z” and “GTR” nameplates, joining a showcase of both badges’ greatest hits on the firm’s New York stand.
On the outside, the Nissan 370Z 50th Anniversary Edition mimics the livery used by the BRE 240Z racer. It’s available in one of two colour schemes, with buyers given the choice of a white base coat with red highlights or a silver base coat with black highlights. Other additions include a set of unique 19-inch RAYS alloy wheels and special “50th Anniversary” badging.
Inside, the new special edition 370Z gets a pair of heated, leather-and-suede-trimmed sports seats, an Alcantara steering wheel, re-designed door cards and a set of dark chrome kick-panels. American models also get an eight-speaker Bose stereo system and active noise cancellation.
Nissan’s new special edition 370Z is powered the same naturally-aspirated 3.7-litre V6 as the standard model, producing 324bhp and 363Nm of torque.
The engine feeds its power through a six-speed manual gearbox to the rear wheels, allowing a 0–62mph sprint of 5.3 seconds and a top speed of 155mph.
