Skoda will unveil a new, range-topping trim level for the Scala hatchback at this year’s Frankfurt Motor Show. Called the Scala Monte Carlo, it features a range of sporty interior and exterior styling revisions, as well as additional equipment and technology. Production is set to start later this year, with first deliveries due in early 2020.
As standard, the Skoda Scala Monte Carlo comes with a set of 17-inch alloy wheels, a new front bumper, a black radiator grille, a redesigned rear bumper, wider side skirts and a fresh tailgate spoiler. LED headlights also feature, along with a pair of black mirror caps, rear privacy glass and a panoramic roof. Buyers can also opt for larger 18-inch alloys.
Inside, the range-topping Scala features a multifunction sports steering wheel, LED ambient lighting, aluminium sports pedals and a pair of sports seats, trimmed in unique Monte Carlo upholstery. The headlining is trimmed in black fabric, while the gear selector and handbrake gaiter are both finished in black leather with red stitching.
Like the current flagship Scala SE L, the Monte Carlo will be offered with a 9.2-inch Amundsen infotainment system, a 10.25-inch digital instrument binnacle, climate control and chrome trim for the air vents and door handles. A unique set of floor mats and Scala branding on the door sills complete the trim level.
The Scala Monte Carlo will be offered with three petrol engines and one diesel engine. Petrol options include a turbocharged 1.0-litre three-cylinder, with either 94bhp or 113bhp, or a turbocharged 1.5-litre four-cylinder with 148bhp. The sole diesel on offer will be a 113bhp 1.6-litre four-cylinder unit.
The lesser-powered 1.0-litre engine can only be specced with a five-speed manual transmission, while all other engines will be offered with either a six-speed manual or a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.
