MINI is planning a mid-life facelift for the latest hatch, and we've spotted the five-door variant out testing in southern Europe. It looks to be a fairly minor update, though we do expect the new features to arrive later this year for the whole range.

New lights look like the only real changes to the exterior of the BMW-owned, British-built supermini, just like the very subtle updates we saw earlier this year for the BMW 3 Series. Camouflage covers the car, so it's hard to see exactly what has changed, but we expect that most of the upgrades will be on the inside.

An interior shot of the car shows that the actual interior layout is unlikely to change much, although test cars like this are often not fitted with an accurate interior to the one revealed on the production model. Having said that, the infotainment screen will likely get an upgrade with some new features, and MINI being MINI there are likely to be a range of new optional add-ons made available too.

We don't expect prices to change much over the current car, though there could be a slight increase over the current £14,620 starting price for a MINI One three-door.

What additions do you think MINI will make later this year? Tell us in the comments section at the bottom of this page…
