The all-new MG6 has been unveiled in China by MG's parent company SAIC - and it's expected that the new saloon will arrive in the UK next year.
Based on the Roewe i6, the second-generation MG6 features plenty of additional sporty design cues to mark it out as an MG. An aggressive ‘star rider’ grille sits between a pair of LED headlamps, while the two-tone leather interior has been tailored towards the European market.
The newcomer also features a new nine-inch touchscreen infotainment system, which provides owners access to Bluetooth connectivity and a rear-view camera display. Keyless entry and electrically adjustable heated seats also feature inside.
MG has not confirmed any details on the MG’s powertrain options, but it’s likely that the engine lineup will mirror that of the Roewe i6. That means the saloon should be available with a 164bhp 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine as well as a smaller 123bhp 1.0-litre three-cylinder unit.
The Roewe i6 is also offered with a plug-in hybrid powertrain, but its unknown as to whether this will be available on the MG6. MG bosses have previously expressed a desire to bring plug-in hybrid technology to UK cars but only if ti can be done at a price which fits with MG’s affordable image.
