Italdesign heading back to Geneva with a new supercar to commemorate the marque's 50-year anniversary

Italdesign will return to the Geneva Motor Show in 2018 with another bespoke supercar offering, which will be a convertible version of the Zerouno revealed at the show last year.

Though the official teaser image supplied by the Italian design house isn’t accompanied by any official information, it’s clear that it’s a drop top reworking of last year’s Zerouno.

It’ll launch under the Italdesign Automobili Speciali brand. Like the Zerouno coupe, it’ll likely be limited to around five units, with a price tag of over £1m reserved for each car.

The Zerouno marked a return to small series production for the Italdesign marque when it arrived last year. Based around the same underpinnings used by Lamborghini for the Huracan and Audi for the R8, a 5.2-litre V10 engine sits in the middle, sending power to the rear wheels.

Italdesign claims that the Zerouno coupe is capable of 0-62mph in 3.2 seconds, with a top speed of 205mph. Thanks to lightweight all carbon-fibre construction, those figures shouldn’t deviate too much for the convertible.

Expect Italdesign to use the reveal of the Zerouno convertible as means for a celebration – the Italian firm marks its 50th anniversary in 2018, and the celebratory programme for the year is due to officially begin at the Geneva show.
