Jaguar’s former chief of design has launched his own styling house, with plans to release his first project this September

Jaguar’s former design director Ian Callum has announced that he is setting up his own styling and engineering consultancy, called CALLUM. The Scot, who left the Jaguar role last month after two decades at the helm of its design team, is teaming up with senior engineers for the project, which will be based in Warwickshire and release its first project in September.

Naturally, Callum himself will act as the firm’s design director. Throughout his career, he has penned a range of award-winning automotive designs, including the Aston Martin Vanquish, Vantage and DB9 and the Jaguar F-Type, XJ and I-Pace. David Fairbairn, the man behind the Jaguar Lightweight E-Type, will also feature in the company’s line-up.

Ian Callum resigns as Jaguar’s Director of Design

Adam Donfrancesco will act as CALLUM’s engineering director. Over the past 16 years, he’s designed road and race cars for Noble, as well as the Jaguar F-Type GT4 racer, the Aston Martin Vantage GT8, and the Aston Martin Vantage GT12.

CALLUM’s 20,000sq ft facility will design and produce a range of bespoke products, completely in house, across the sectors of design, lifestyle and travel. Callum said: “I wanted to get back to the essence of creativity - the challenge of producing something wonderful and personal.

“To design the alternative has always been my mantra, but always the beautiful alternative and something to enjoy. In today’s modern world, collaboration is the catalyst for new ideas, and this is our ethos and inspiration, both within our team and as we look to work with partners in the future. CALLUM is an exciting new chapter that will focus on ‘Journeys to Destinations’, and all that encompasses.”
