Audi has released a new, off-road inspired variant of the A1 Sportback, called the A1 Citycarver. Revisions over the standard model include a raised ride height and mildly updated exterior styling. The new model can be ordered in Europe from August, with first deliveries expected in Autumn.
Styling updates include a new front bumper with a pair of high-mounted intakes, black plastic wheel arch mouldings, redesigned side-skirts and stainless-steel-coloured underbody protection panels front and rear. A new, octagonal radiator grille also features, which Audi says is inspired by its range of “Q-branded” SUVs.
The A1 Citycarver’s ride height is around four centimetres (two inches) taller than that of the standard A1 Sportback, thanks to a slightly raised suspension setup and larger, 16-inch alloy wheels. Buyers can spec wheels up to 18 inches in diameter as an optional extra, along with Audi’s dynamic package, which adds adjustable dampers and red brake calipers.
Standard equipment includes LED headlights, an S-line tailgate spoiler, a digital instrument binnacle, a 10.1-inch infotainment system, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, park assist and a choice of three interior trim colours. Nine exterior paint finishes are also available, and all are offered with a contrasting black or grey roof.
From launch Audi will introduce an A1 Citycarver Edition One; a highly-specced launch edition variant with 18-inch alloys, tinted front and rear lamps, black exterior trim and unique “Edition One” badging. Two paint colours will be available, with buyers offered either Arrow Grey or Pulse Orange, and both will be offered with a contrasting roof.
