Ford has updated both the S-Max and Galaxy MPVs with a range of new engines and updated specification and technology.
Both cars are now offered with a new 2.0-litre EcoBlue four-cylinder diesel engine, available with 118bhp, 148bhp or 187bhp. A bi-turbo version of the unit ramps power up to 237bhp as well, equipped with a fresh eight speed automatic gearbox operated through a rotary dial gear selector found in the cabin of both cars.
By the end of the year both cars will have a new petrol engine added to their respective line-ups too, in the form of a 1.5-litre EcoBoost unit delivering 163bhp.
Cars equipped with the new eight-speed automatic transmission are now available with adaptive cruise control with full stop and go functionality, bringing the car to a complete halt and moving it forward again in stop-start traffic.
Blind spot assistance has been updated on both models, and Ford claims that cars equipped with the system can recognise and warn of vehicles approaching the driver’s blind spot at higher speeds - and at a further distance - than before.
New windscreen wipers with washer jets are now equipped, while in the cabin the electronic parking brake button has been moved to the driver’s side of the centre console on right-hand-drive cars here in Britain. A four-inch LCD driver information display is also now found in the instrument panel, and a full 10-inch digital instrument panel is now available on the options list.
