The all-new Kia Ceed GT has been revealed, ahead of its public debut at the Paris Motor Show in October. Featuring a turbocharged 1.6-litre petrol engine with 201bhp, the warm hatch will go on sale in the UK early next year.
For the first time, Kia will offer its Ceed GT with a choice of transmission options. All cars get a six-speed manual as standard, with a seven-speed DCT available at extra cost. The GT’s ride height is 5mm lower than on standard Ceed models, while the stiffer, fully independent suspension should make it more fun to drive.

Performance data hasn’t been announced, but we can expect the Ceed GT to accelerate from 0-62mph in less than eight seconds, and hit around 140mph flat out. Drivers benefit from the full 265Nm of torque between 1,500 and 4,500rpm, but again, in-gear acceleration numbers haven’t been announced. A set of exhaust flaps and an electronic sound generator should give the GT a sporty sound.
Sitting between cars like the Hyundai i30 N Line and fire-breathing hot hatchbacks like the Honda Civic Type R, Kia’s latest Ceed GT has been inspired by the firm’s range of popular GT Line models.
Emilio Herrera, Chief Operating Officer for Kia Motors Europe, said: “The all-new Ceed GT occupies a unique position in the mid-size family car segment, and doesn’t simply chase the highest top speed or fastest straight-line acceleration.
“It offers greater agility and grip on winding roads, maximum confidence and comfort at a cruise, and fast-revving turbocharged power perfectly matched to European tastes.”
All models get sportier styling and 18-inch wheels, as well as unique ‘ice-cube’ daytime running lights. Kia’s tiger nose grille has been adapted for the GT, with a honeycomb pattern and red detailing. The brake calipers and wheel centre caps are red, too, while a gloss black diffuser and a small roof spoiler complete the look.
Inside, all cars get a touchscreen infotainment system with a TomTom sat-nav, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Depending on spec (which is still to be confirmed), the Ceed GT will also be available with a JBL stereo, wireless phone charging and keyless entry.
The car will be sold exclusively in Europe and will be built at Kia’s factory in Zilina, Slovakia. Prices will be announced later, but expect a starting figure of around £27,000.
