Honda is set to unveil an all-electric vehicle for the European market at the Frankfurt Motor Show next month when it pulls the covers off the Honda Urban EV – a fresh concept car that the firm says will influence a later production model.
One teaser image for the concept has been revealed, but it gives little away – a dot matrix display gives a charging readout, flanking an illuminated Honda badge. As such, it could be a glimpse at the concept car’s grille.

No other information has been revealed, but the concept’s name allows us to speculate as to what Honda has up its sleeve. ‘Urban’ reveals that this will be a small EV for town and city streets, so we’re looking at something city car sized or smaller.
Honda also has form when it comes to small electric concept vehicles. In January, the firm revealed the NeuV (New Electric Urban Vehicle) at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, though this concept has little production potential.
How close to production the concept we’ll see remains a mystery, but Honda’s current electrification roadmap suggests it could be fairly close to the mark. Earlier this year the firm revealed it plans to have two-thirds of its range electrified by 2030, and a brand new battery EV for China is set to launch in 2018.
It won’t be the only electrified concept on Honda’s stand – the firm is also bringing the CR-V Hybrid Prototype, which previews the European market version of the new CR-V, due on sale later this year.
Other Honda Frankfurt debuts include a new diesel powered Civic variant and the recently facelifted Jazz.
