Volkswagen has revealed an updated version of the Golf SV ahead of its official debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show. The mini-MPV gains a series of light updates for the 2018 model year, joining the rest of the recently revised Golf range.

Exterior changes are typically subtle, but the Golf SV now benefits from revised bumpers front and rear, a lightly tweaked grille, LED headlights on top trims and LED tail-lights. A new Cranberry Red exterior colour (shown in these images) and a fresh range of alloy wheels complete the visual changes.

Inside, you'll find new fabrics and materials aimed at boosting perceived quality, but the biggest news is the introduction of the new Discover Pro navigation system. The 9.2-inch touchscreen features capacitive touch buttons down the side, plus tech such as gesture control and increased smartphone connectivity.

New safety technology is also available on the Golf SV, including Front Assist with City Emergency Braking and Pedestrian Monitoring. There's also Traffic Jam assist (low-speed adaptive cruise control that works up to 37mph), an updated Park Assist system and Trailer Assist.

Full engine details are yet to be revealed, but we know the SV will feature three TSI petrols and two diesel engines - likely with minor revisions to improve efficiency over the old car. Expect pricing and a UK sale date to be announced later this year.
