Kia has announced it will introduce a new concept car at the Frankfurt Motor Show on 12 September, that will preview a fresh design language set to debut on the next-generation Cee’d.
Alongside the announcement, Kia has issued one teaser image. The car we see is not a hatchback, but a low, sleek shooting brake with a rakish, sloping roofline. Flared wheel arches contrast with deep cuts down the side of the car, while we can also make out an LED lighting strip spanning the width of the tailgate, plus large wheels.

This one picture only previews the new concept car from the rear though – we’ll have to wait a little longer to get a look at the fresh face.
Kia says that the concept represents “extended hot hatch styling” and is influenced partly by the current Pro_cee’d – the firm’s hot hatch. The bodyshape puts forward a “bold vision for a potential member of the next-generation Cee’d family”, hinting that a Cee’d estate is in the pipeline.
We’ve already spied the next-generation Cee’d undergoing assessment by engineers. Auto Express understands that alongside a potential shooting brake Cee’d, Kia is evaluating introducing a jacked up crossover version of its Volkswagen Golf rival too.
Do you think Kia should expand the Cee'd range with new body styles? Tell us your thoughts in the comments below...
