The new BMW M3 CS will sprint from 0-62mph in 3.9 seconds and go on to a top speed of 174mph

Following on from the M4 Coupe, BMW has applied the CS treatment to the more practical M3 saloon. The newcomer goes on sale in January, with 100 units coming to the UK, each priced at £86,380. That’s a £24,800 premium over a standard M3 fitted with the optional Competition Package.

The M3 CS benefits from a 10bhp power boost for the 3.0-litre twin-turbo straight-six engine, taking total output to 454bhp. Torque has also been increased to 600Nm, up from the standard model’s 550Nm. Weight has been reduced by 62kg to 1,585kg, too, thanks to the addition of a carbon fibre bonnet and roof.

As a result, the 0-62mph time is a tenth quicker than the M3 Competition Package, at 3.9 seconds, while top speed is an electronically limited 174mph.

Standard equipment on the M3 CS includes BMW M’s seven-speed double-clutch transmission. Adaptive suspension derived from the M3 Competition Pack also features, as do Dynamic Stability Control and an Active M Differential. Forged lightweight alloy wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres are included as well.

First customer deliveries in the UK are due in March next year.
