Rimac’s second electric hypercar, the Concept Two, will pick up where the 1,073bhp Concept One left off at its March debut in Switzerland

Croatian EV hypercar outfit Rimac Automobili has unveiled a teaser video of its new Concept Two, which makes its debut at this year’s Geneva Motor Show in March.

The small electric car firm released a teaser video on social media, giving us a glimpse of its second offering. The front of the car looks similar to that of the outgoing Concept One, with a similar sculpted front bonnet and headlights, but a revised front grille can be seen.

The Rimac Concept Two will be unveiled as a sequel to the Concept One, which was unveiled at Geneva back in 2016. The Concept One production model featured four oil-cooled electric motors – one motor for each wheel – producing 800kW (1,073bhp), 1,600Nm of torque and a range of 220 miles. It can do 0-62mph in 2.6 seconds while top speed is limited at 221mph.

The impressive performance complimented an equally impressive price tag of £676,000, which is considerably less than its seven-figure hypercar rivals such as the LaFerrari and McLaren P1.

It’s hard to fathom a car with even more power than the Concept One, but Rimac is confident in its second model. Power for the Concept Two is likely to be around the 1,500bhp mark – that’s Bugatti Chiron and Koenigsegg Agera territory - while the top speed should be around 250mph.

The grand unveiling in March will come four months after Tesla introduced its own EV hypercar in the form of the Mk2 Roadster, with a 250mph top speed being touted by CEO Elon Musk, as well as a 1.9-second 0-62mph figure. We also saw the Nio EP9 EV set a scorching lap time at the Nurburgring, so it seems the electric hypercars are very much out to eclipse their petrol counterparts in the coming years.
